What are the top luxury food, wine and craft beer festivals around the world in January? Dear reader, the holidays have come and gone. But that doesn’t mean the feast is over. This month offers plenty of events for foodies, oenophiles and craft beer connoisseurs to enjoy. Even better for Team Sand? For the most part, it’s all happening in warmer climates. But don’t fret, Team Snow. Our list has some icy locales, too.

Gwenyth Paltrow has a new cookbook, and Blackberry Farm is hosting A Taste of the South. In Breckenridge, Colorado there’s a big Belgian beer festival. In the apple region of England, there’ll be wassailing this month. And there’s a cookout in Cayman. Finally, a historic collection of Penfolds wines goes on the auction block in Hong Kong.

The 30th anniversary of Taste of Tasmania continues through Jan 3

Sonoma Valley has partnered with Visit California for the month of January to celebrate all things epicurean with Sonoma Valley Delicious! Guests will enjoy special offers, including prix fixe menus, special food and wine pairings, signature dishes and cocktails and more – Jan 1 – 31

Taste of the South at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee is an annual celebration of Southern food traditions and advancements benefiting the Southern Foodways Alliance.  The event includes a mix of demonstrations, tastings and talks with Chefs Charles Phan, Alon Shaya, and Cheetie Kumar and Wine Importer Eric Solomon – Jan 4 – 7

Taste of the South at Blackberry Farm

Gwyneth Paltrow is back with her most ambitious cookbook to date: The Clean Plate: Eat, Reset, Heal ($35) – a collection of 100-plus recipes and meal plans that offer taste, simplicity, and targeted health benefits – Jan 8

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman will once again become the culinary epicenter of the Caribbean when it hosts the 11th Annual Cayman Cookout. Chef Eric Ripert will be joined by an impressive roster of culinary stars including José Andrés, Andrew Zimmern, Emeril Lagasse, Yannick Alleno, Dominique Crenn, Amanda Cohen, Emma Bengtsson and Nancy Silverton – Jan 17 – 20

The 9th annual Napa Truffle Festival is an opportunity to experience offerings from chefs renowned for their truffle cuisine, and to hear from the best truffle experts/scientists in the world about truffle cultivation – Jan 18 – 21

At the 20th annual Mendocino Crab, Wine & Beer Festival, you can taste the ocean’s bounty along with a glass (or two) of wonderful California wines. There will be cioppino feasts, crab boils, winemaker dinners, wine and crab pairings, beer tastings, and the popular Crab Cake Cook-Off & Wine Competition – Jan 18 – 27

Celebrating 10 years of flip flops and feet in the sand is the annual Key West Food and Wine Festival which showcases a wide range of wines and inventive cuisine at iconic locations on the island – Jan 23 – 27

During a period between January and February each year, Icelanders celebrate the mid-winter festival Thorrablot with dancing, singing and feasting on traditional Viking food, which includes smoked lamb, skyr, wind-dried fish, singed sheep heads, rotten shark, liver- & blood sausage and much more.  All this is then topped off with Brennivín, which is a Icelandic akvavit – Jan 25 – Feb 25

The Madrid Fusion Summit will turn Spain’s capital into the world’s gastronomy capital for three days and will feature international speakers, along with celebrated chefs from Spain and abroad – Jan 28 – 30

The Big Beers Belgians and Barleywines Festival in Breckenridge, Colorado is an annual world-class beer festival that features renowned brew masters and brewery owners; tastings of hundreds of big, Belgian style, and experimental beers; and inventive beer and food pairings. Communal meals include the Traditional Brewmasters’ Dinner; the Calibration Dinner; and the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing, and there will be more than 400 beers from over 150 different breweries available to sample – Jan 10 – 12

The Manchester Beer and Cider Festival is the biggest beer festival in Northern England; more than 750 assorted beers and ciders will be available – Jan 23 – 26

Key Largo and Islamorada in the Florida Keys host the Uncorked Food & Wine Festival.  The 11-day event features wine tasting events, cooking demonstrations, wine dinners, live music, food and wine pairing classes, progressive wine dinners, art and wine shows – with the additional option of viewing the spectacular sunsets, and going scuba diving and fishing – Jan 10 – 20

Apple-growing regions in England will be holding wassailing festivals this month to help ensure a good harvest. Foodies rave about the annual Wassail Suppers at The Ethicurean outside Bristol, where for two nights there will be an elegant 4-course meal with mulled cider and storytelling in the garden – Jan 11 – 12

Sotheby’s Hong Kong wine auction series begins with Finest & Rarest Wines Featuring a Historic Collection of Penfolds. Estimated in excess of HK$23 million in 791 lots, the auction features for the first-time-in-auction a full vertical of Penfolds Grange Magnums from their first 1979 vintage to 2014 and historic Penfolds wines dating back to 1950’s – Jan 19

Finest and Rarest Wines at Sotheby’s Hong Kong

Celebrate Old Russian New Year’s at Brooklyn’s Museum of Food and Drink.  After the Russian Revolution, the Gregorian calendar was implemented in place of the old Julian calendar. The 1918 reform dropped thirteen days from the calendar, leaving the religious population in the middle a 40-day fast on the new New Year’s Eve. In order to still  enjoy the holiday festivities, the community decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve according the Julian calendar, after the winter fast.  Prepare for multiple toasts, a historical workshop led by Irina Groushevaia, and a celebratory Russian spread with caviar and vodka – Jan 19

Among the most successful charity wine auctions, the Naples Winter Wine Festival in Florida raises millions of dollars annually for the Naples Children & Education Foundation, whose grants have impacted more than 200,000 underserved children in the region – Jan 25 – 27
