The Best Luxury Easter Eggs and Treats This Year

Easter is nearly here, and you know what that means. Its time for Easter baskets, family gatherings and Easter egg hunts filled with pretty pastel treats. Like Halloween, for many people Easter is a lot about sweets. So we went in search of luxury Easter confections, and we found lots of wonderful surprises. Here’s our round-up of the best luxury Easter confections this year: cakes, Easter eggs, chocolates, candy and cookies. Hey – are you getting all of this down, Easter Bunny?

We’re talking Easter confectionary: Easter cakes, Easter eggs, Easter candy and chocolate and Easter cookies, to be precise.


There are so many gorgeous cakes to celebrate spring and the Easter Season, your hardest decision is going to be the eternal question: chocolate or vanilla? Actually, this time of year we usually vote for carrot cake.

Layer Cakes.

Williams Sonoma Pink Rose Chocolate Cake $69.95.  Prepared by boutique bakery We Take the Cake, this confection features four layers of chocolate cake, chocolate cream cheese frosting, and pale pink vanilla buttercream roses.

Williams Sonoma Easter Flower Cake $99.95. features four layers of moist lemon cake, baked from scratch using fresh ingredients like lemon juice and zest, whole eggs and sour cream for a touch of tang. In between are mounds of strawberry cream cheese icing, studded with juicy strawberries for a vibrant freshness. Confectioners ice the cake with petal-pink vanilla buttercream, and finish with hand-piped blossoms and leaves.

The Cake Bake Shop’s Mint Chocolate Chip Cake $149.99. This gorgeous cake was named to Oprah Winfrey’s “O List.” Three layers of Valrhona chocolate cake, mint chocolate chip buttercream and Belgian chocolate ganache. The finishing touch is pale green mint buttercream frosting topped with a pink silk peony. Handcrafted in Indiana by the artisans of Gwendolyn Rogers’ award-winning Cake Bake Shop, the cake arrives packaged in the bakery’s signature pink cake box.

Sweet Lady Jane Carrot Cake $45. Made with raisins and walnuts and layered with a pecan praline-caramel filling. Frosted with a cream-cheese frosting and topped with toasted coconut, then decorated with buttercream roses.

Elegant Cheesecakes “Limoges Egg” Lemon Cheesecake $225. Handcrafted cake replicates the look of a Limoges egg, complete with gilded butterfly clasp and “pearl” studded lid. Layers of white-chocolate butter cake with lemon curd, white-chocolate cream-cheese buttercream, and creamy bourbon vanilla cheesecake. Enveloped in soft pink-tinted white chocolate.

Cake Balls and Cupcakes.

Austin Cake Balls Party Animal Collection $39.95. This pink collection is perfect for birthdays, but it can also double as an Easter or spring celebration treat.

Georgetown Cupcakes Easter Celebration $36. Six Easter Nest cupcakes, two Pink Tulip cupcakes, two Purple Tulip cupcakes, and two Yellow Tulip cupcakes. Available from April 1-30, 2019.

The Cake Nest Speckled Egg Truffles £15. The perfect alternative to chocolate Easter Eggs, these cake balls are made handmade. Vanilla and chocolate cake is hand-mixed with flavored buttercream frosting and rolled into balls before being dipped into white chocolate and decorated robin’s-egg blue.

Waitrose Chocolate Scotch Eggs £6 each. Mango and yuzu fondant yolk encased in a smoked milk chocolate caramel ganache, topped with a milk chocolate maple crunch breadcrumb.

Chocolates and Easter Eggs.

The chocolatiers of the world are being unusually inventive this spring. There are more fantastical offerings and luxurious limited editions than ever. For example, Chocolate Asparagus. Is that really, really wrong? Or oh-so-right?

Fortnum and Mason Golden Milk Chocolate Praline Eggs £25.00. Evoke a whimsical aura with a box of six golden eggs containing real hen eggshells that have been carefully hollowed, painted gold, and then filled to the brim with Milk praline chocolate.

Harrods x Camille Walala Chocolate Eggs. Artist Camille Walala has created three exclusive prints that have been translated onto Easter eggs, each one hand-painted by an artisan chocolatier. The eggs are made using 41% milk couverture – an exclusive blend created by Harrods pastry chefs in a Parisian chocolate laboratory. With only 12 eggs in total, the limited-edition eggs are sure to be highly-prized.

Selfridge’s Artisan Easter Egg $33.00. Not to be outdone, Selfridge’s also has an artisanal hand-crafted and hand-painted Easter egg. Award-winning Baravelli’s Chocolate, in the medieval town of Conwy in Wales, exclusively handmade these eggs. Expertly hand painted, they contain 45% milk chocolate.

Pierre Hermé Paris Oeuf Fragments 240 € per piece. Inside this edible homage to a deconstructed work of art is a dazzling golden egg. It’s made of Pure Origin Belize plantation Xibun (64% cocoa) dark chocolate. This special treat is also available in signature Maison Pierre Hermé Paris milk chocolate or caramelized blond chocolate and fleur de sel.

Betty’s Centenary Easter Egg £29.95. This egg was specially created to celebrate Betty’s 100th anniversary as a confectioner. It’s a white chocolate egg colored  in the same the muted pink shade that founder Frederick Belmont chose for the first Betty’s Café. It’s hand-finished with silver luster, green stems and white wild roses.


Melt Chocolates Vegan Wild Easter Egg £55. Made from wild cocoa trees in the Amazon rainforest, this Vegan egg features rare organic cocoa beans from Bolivia. It’s deep rich chocolate, with notes of fruit and a smooth, sweet texture.

Charbonnel et Walker Milk Chocolate Easter Egg $50.95. this milk chocolate Easter egg from master-chocolatier Charbonnel et Walker is filled with an assortment of luxury chocolates in thematic shapes. Encased in a thick shell and tied with a logo-branded ribbon, this opulent offering is presented in a cheerful gift box.

Claridge’s Limited-Edition 2019 Easter Egg comes in both milk and dark chocolate. Hand made using Valrhona chocolate, the Easter Egg has salted caramel gull’s eggs hidden inside.  It comes wrapped in black and white foil inspired by the checkerboard marble of the hotel’s Art Deco foyer. As a finishing touch, the egg is tied with a black satin bow and enclosed in a Claridge’s jade gift box. £55

Other Chocolate Treats.

Fortnum and Mason Chocolate Handpainted Asparagus £16.95. hand-made and hand-painted chocolate Asparagus spears celebrate the spring season and the first harvest of British asparagus. These chocolates are gin and tonic flavored and Fortnum’s recommends dipping them in the brand’s chocolate gulls eggs.

Janice Wong Chocolate Crayons Box of Eight $20.00. Creativity meets confectionary with Janice Wong’s clever chocolate crayons. Delivering the exhilarating rush of opening a brand new box of crayons, the colorful chocolate batons – flavored with passion fruit, orange, peppermint, mango, grape and strawberry – can draw on paper, canvas and even on other pieces of chocolate, providing a novel way to round-off your next dinner party.

Sugarfina Bunny Bark Limited Edition Pink Chocolate Bar $9.95. Love chocolate, but need pastels only for a photo-ready Easter basket? Problem solved. Serafina is offering a limited-edition pink chocolate bar with happy-colored sprinkles. Pink chocolate from Paris is topped with sparkling sugar and confetti sprinkles.

La Boite x Eclat Spice Infused Chocolate Bars $34.00. A partnership between Éclat artisanal chocolatiers and La Boite, this set of three spice-infused chocolate bars includes peppery citrus, rose and sesame, and honeyed spice. Each bar is wrapped in stunning packaging featuring the work of artist Nadine Westcott.

Pierre Marcolini is a Belgian chocolatier with retail stores in Paris, London and Brussels. The star of this year’s Easter line-up is a charming Magician’s Hat. An adorable rabbit peeks out of a classic top hat. Once the outer layers are gone, 45 Small Eggs in six flavors appear as if by magic. 89€

Jacques Torres Tuxedo Chick Peeps Box $9.99. The classic marshmallow Peep is dipped in chocolate and then hand-decorated in tuxedos. Available in Dark and Milk Chocolate.

Waitrose Heston Chocolate Teapot £20. Worthy of the maddest tea party, Heston’s magical milk chocolate teapot comes with ‘sugar cube chocolates’ and cocoa nib ‘tea leaves’.



Sugarfina Robin’s Egg Caramels $10.00. For a perfect splash of blue in your Easter basket or on your table, consider these lovely caramels. Dipped in dark chocolate with a crunchy sugar coating, the center is filled with smooth caramel. We are so not sharing ours. You should get your own.

And just in time for Easter, Sugarfina’s collaboration with Mattel to celebrate Barbie’s 60th anniversary means that you can add these sweet role models into your Easter basket.
