It isn’t just the fashion and food though. There’s of course the famous interior design, the burgeoning pop music scene, the museums, the egalitarianism and of course, the notions of Norwegian and Danish “hygge” (a mood of coziness and comfort) and Swedish “lagom” (living a balanced, happy life) that have us daydreaming of all things sleek and minimalist.

Here are our 41 favorite gifts straight from Scandinavia right now.

1. fashion.

From Copenhagen to Stockholm, Scandinavian women are known for their chic and pared-back wardrobes.  No brand does it better than Copenhagen based Ganni, which is opening up its first US store in New York this month.

We love the brand’s love affair with all things leopard including their Pleated Georgette Mini Dress ($215).  If pants are more their thing, you can’t go wrong with Stine Goya’s Jelena Pants ($354) for a style that work both in and out of the office.  Keep them warm and chic with a Saks Potts Star Down Jacket ($650) or one of Cecilie Bahnsen’s ethereal sweaters like the Annebella Sweater ($1,100) featuring tiny beaded flowers.

2. jewelry.

The Nordic countries have a long-standing legacy in silver and enamel-work in keeping with their minimalistic style.  Maria Black’s jewelry keeps it simple, but with a touch of attitude.  One of our favorites is her Papaya Ring ($188) that works just as well stacked as is does alone.  For watches we like Triwa and their unisex driven styles like the 1950’s inspired Falken Watch ($219).

Georg Jensen is quite possibly one of the most iconic brands working with silver.  The brand’s Infinity Bangle ($575) is a classic that never goes out of style.  If you prefer just a touch of embellishment, we like Sophie Bille Brahe’s Botticelli Pearl Earrings ($1,200) that features a small cluster of fresh water pearls.

3. accessories and handbags.

Like their clothing, Scandinavians tend to keep their accessories sleek and practical in nature.  Beanies like Acne’s Ribbed Beanie ($150) are a no brainer for keeping warm during the cold winters.  Another great piece for keeping warm and chic?  Scarves.  We love Norwegian brand Holzweiler and their wide array of options including this Smoke Silk Scarf ($220).

Keep them feeling cuddly with Stand Studio’s Lola Faux Shearling Tote ($220) that would look just as great tucked under the nook of their arm as it would in the front basket of their bicycle.  For something more 9-5 in nature we love Little Liffner’s Power Pouch ($355) that can be used as a shoulder bag or clutch and can even fit their Macbook.

4. beauty and fragrance.

Remind them of the fjords of Norway while keeping their hands soft through the winter with Skandinavisk’s Fjord Hand Cream ($25).  Skandinavisk creates creams, soaps and candles that evoke the different spirits of places throughout Scandinavia.

Kjaer Weis is one of Denmark’s top makeup artists, and just like Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier before her, Kirsten Weis launched her own line of products.  The difference between their lines and hers though is that Weis’s is organic and refillable.  Our favorite is the Kjaer Weis Glow Highlighter ($56).  Help them streamline their beauty routine with Verso Icons Set ($150) from Sweden.  It features an eye serum, hydration serum, face mask and eye mask to give them a glow that is anything but minimalist.

We couldn’t make a list of Scandi beauty products and not include Swedish cult favorite perfume brand BreydoGypsy Water ($175) has been one of the brand’s best sellers since it was launched in 2008.

5. footwear.

With all the walking and bicycling that takes place throughout Scandinavia, a pair of good sneakers is a no brainer.  Treton’s Nyliteplus ($70) are comfy and easy to wear with everything from you favorite jeans to Cecilie Banhsen’s flowy dresses.

Aside from sneakers, boots are another regional favorite and like sneakers they are worn with everything.  Some of our picks include Ivylee Copenhagen’s Stella Leopard Boots ($230) for a dressier look, Holzweiler’s Sinsen Leather Shearling Boots ($410) for wintry weather and Ganni’s Western Knee High Boots ($675) for the cool girl take on the western trend.

6. design icons.

It’s impossible to make a list of Scandinavian gift ideas without making mention of their iconic design.  Any Scandi design lover would appreciate a Josef Frank Vase No7 ($220) from the famous Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm.

For something a little more illuminating we like Greta Grossman’s Grasshopper Lamp ($1,030) which was a favorite of Greta Garbo, Joan Fontaine and Gracie Allen to name a few.  For something a little more substantial what about a Hans Wegner CH07 Shell Chair ($3,145) or an Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair ($8,251) that was designed the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen?  Swoon!

7. home accessories.

Everything has a place and purpose in a Nordic kitchen, but who says those pieces can’t be fun, too?  We love these sweet Lucie Kaas Egg Holders ($18) and we have given the bride and groom versions to practically every couple who has invited us to their wedding.  Another one of our favorites is the classic Arne Clausen Lotus Bowl ($65).

Adorn their walls with a beautiful watercolor print from Norwegian artist Elise Stalder.  While she paints an array of nature inspired animals and flora, our fav right now is her Lille Luring Art Print ($66).   Coffee is life in Scandinavia.  In fact on average they drink two cups a day, making the Stelton Vacuum Jug ($85) a necessity in almost every household for keeping their brew hot.

8. books.

If true crime is not their thing, maybe a book on Nordic design is? Taschen’s Scandinavian Design ($20) book would make a great addition to their collection.  For those trying to channel their inner Ganni girl, might we suggest Pernille Teisbaek’s Dress Scandinavian ($20) book?

If they want to try their hand at baking, then Magnus Nilsson’s Nordic Baking Book ($50) would be a great fit.  Art fans might enjoy The Unknown Watercolors ($54), which explores Josef Frank’s watercolor paintings of landscapes, cityscapes and still lifes of flowers, with clear references to his well known botanical fabric prints.

9. kids.

Get your favorite little ones organized with a sleek reusable TellKiddo Paper Bag Storage ($16).  They can help clean up their laundry or keep their favorite toys organized in it, like this classic Kay Bojesen Car ($94) from Denmark.

Believe it or not, an Icelandic Sheepskin Throw ($95) makes for a great kids gift.  Kids will love snuggling up to read or play on it during the cold winter months.  Looking for something for them to play with?  We love this sweet Maileg Mouse Book House ($298) that will help their imagination runs wild.

10. the sporting life.

Scandinavia is ground zero for outdoor sports lovers, so you know they have great winter gear.  Winter runners will enjoy these Craft Subzero Padded Tights ($90) for keeping warm on long trips.  No matter if they are running, skiing or just out for a winter stroll, their hands will be warm with a pair of Swedish Hestra Leather Mittens ($130).

For downhill skiers we love this bright Helly Hansen Maroi Jacket ($650) that is sure to help them stand out from the crowd.  We couldn’t make a list of Scandinavian inspired sporting items and not include a pair of cross country skis.  Madhus is one of the top brands from Norway and their Redline Intelligrip Cross Country Skis ($800) are super easy to use thanks to their waxless base of mohair that makes it easy to just snap them on and hit the trails.
