What’s the best playlist for Thanksgiving this year?

Thanksgiving has been the choice setting of many a family drama and comedy, both in film and in real life.  The heightened expectations that everyone enjoy one another’s company despite past relationship issues, opposing political views and social differences is perhaps unrealistic.

And maybe it’s just at our table. But it seems like there’s a new dietary restriction or allergy every year to be considered. It’s getting more and more difficult to ensure that no one’s diet is ruined, no one is offended, and there’s no emergency room run on the agenda because someone forgot to mention an allergy they’ve developed and no one can find the Epi pen. Jeez.

And yet, still, we try. Despite all the potential sources of stress and disappointment, every November, on that last Thursday of the month, we start dry rubbing the turkey and setting the table just like in that Instagram photo, in order to bring everyone together and remember all there is to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving may be a long-standing tradition. But it can still be a revelatory experience each year – a chance to take in all the ways we count on one another and care for each other.

We’ve created a Thanksgiving playlist of over 2 hours of songs about home, family, friendship and of course, gratitude. From traditional standards by the greats: Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Otis Redding. To the hippie-influenced tunes of peace and love from the 70’s. And of course, some contemporary feel-good hits from Beyonce, Norah Jones and Bruno Mars. We even have a new jam from Maroon 5 in the mix.
