the best luxury gifts for those who love snow

Luxury gift winter wonderland

1. Snow-inspired fine and bijoux jewelry

We begin our gift guide for those who love snow with the highest, most expensive luxury level of all: fine jewelry. It’s wonderful to know that even the wealthiest among us seem to love snowflakes and all things winter – at least, if the fine jewelry collections are any indication of what the rich love.

Boucheron’s Hiver Imperial collection celebrates “the strength of women in wintry climes” with stunning diamond jewelry fashioned to resemble snowflakes. The Lumière de Nuit “chapter” captures this idea with a large snowflake and a collection of animaux des neiges (snow animals). The Flocon Imperial necklace is the showpiece, set with a 5,20 ct E VVS1 cushion diamond and rock crystal, paved with diamonds, on white gold. Price upon request.

Tiffany’s charming small snowflake charm ($175) or the larger snowflake pendant for a necklace ($235) would be a lovely addition to your gift recipient’s jewelry box.

A year ago, Chanel launched its Coco Neige line (“neige” means “snow” in French). It has become the go-to luxury collection for Team Snow. The accessories, including the bags and bijoux jewelry, all channel the spirit of life on ski slopes in whimsical and charming selections like these brooches in the shape of snowflakes and ski boots.

2. Winter wonderland apparel

Looking for a city-chic sweater that still embodies snow? Done! Loewe’s fall-winter 2019 black and white graphic snowflake wool turtleneck sweater ($790) is a smart look for the slopes or the street. There’s also a slimmer-fitting version sans turtleneck ($790). BITE Studios’ cable-knit organic cotton sweater is the perfect ski getaway companion ($575).

Bogner has several snowflake-inspired sweaters in varying weights, including this red and white mid-layer Madeline stretch-jersey pullover ($208) and their Leja cardigan, knitted with a traditional blue and black Norwegian-inspired motif ($312).

We love this mountain cabin-ready turtleneck from Polo Ralph Lauren ($526), perfect with jeans. And the super-cozy Agrume turtleneck sweater from ‘S Max Mara ($725). Or go for a cold-shoulder snowflake sweater from Monse ($1,250).

Thom Browne’s black cardigan  ($650) nods to snow country, but would be equally chic on a city street. Or if snow-country wildlife is more on-point, you cannot go wrong with Moncler Genius’s adorable penguin Grenoble sweater ($790). Or this Adam Lippes tone-on-tone cuddly Fair Isle sweater ($790).

menswear

We haven’t forgotten about the gents. We love the whimsy of Charvet’s Snowflakes Silk Tie ($245.00) in an abstract snowflake motif on a wintry blue background. The perfect gift for your corporate-job snow-loving friend or family member.

For his weekend, this classic Fair Isle sweater from J. Crew ($150) will keep the snowy vibe going.

outerwear

Of course, the outerwear choices for those who love snow are practically endless. If your gift recipient already has all of the functional gear that’s needed, why not splurge on something really fun and furry? Like this faux fur coat from Stella McCartney ($2,595). Or Tibi’s faux curly shearling coat ($695). For skiing or a cozy winter date night, we love this See By Chloé white puffer jacket ($875). It has an elegant funnel neck and flares slightly at the waist and would be very chic over an all-black ensemble.

Balenciaga just launched this pair of ski-inspired sunglasses, with full flat category 3 lenses with a mirrored finish, bordered by a blue acetate frame ($338). Jil Sander offers fluffy snow-country slides ($550) crafted in Italy from soft shearling set on a rubber sole. Perfect for the pool! Or the apres-ski hot tub party.

Wandler’s Mia tote ($1,110) is crafted in Italy from tactile ivory shearling, offset with brown leather straps and a rear pocket.

We love the city-chic of Off-White’s Jitney 2.8 Furry Shearling tote ($1,274). And if you want a snow-inspired suitcase, this handsome Globe-Trotter St. Moritz navy cabin suitcase ($1,664) is named after the alpine resort in Switzerland, famed for its healing mineral springs.

5. Wintry scents and home fragrances

Creed’s Himalaya Eau de Parfum ($250) seems on point for a person who really loves snow. Ditto Williams-Sonoma’s Winter Forest Essential Oils Collection, which includes liquid soap, hand lotion, and home fragrance.

Another option is a scented candle that smells like a wood-burning fire. Jo Loves Log Fires ($75) is a blend of smooth, smoky woods laced with the scent of Lapsang Souchong tea to evoke the scent of a roaring log fire. Or this whimsical scented candle from Bella Freud. Her ‘Je T’aime Jane’ candle ($70) has notes of tiger lily, green leaves, water stem and a hint of Snow.

Jo Malone London’s White Moss & Snowdrop cologne ($140) has the “scent of winter wonderment.” It’s intended to instantly transports your gift recipient to a crisp winter day in the mountains, when the slopes are covered in snow and fresh moss peeps through in the forest. There’s a scented candle in this fragrance, too ($200).

The Ski Candle from Gray Malin ($49) features Malin’s aerial photography on the outside of each vessel. Inside, there’s a silver lining (literally). The soy candle has a warm scent that combines “alpine air, cedar and winter rose.”

6. Snow-inspired beauty products

Those who love to be out in the snow need a great moisturizer to protect skin from the elements. The aptly-named Cremorlab ‘Hydro Plus’ Snow Falls line would be a lovely gift. The cream moisturizer ($41), toner ($29) and serum ($41) are formulated with “intensely moisturizing T.E.N.™ water.” We don’t know what that means, exactly, but we love the way it sounds.

A snow flower is known for its tenacity, resilience and remarkable vitality. It blossoms even in the midst of the coldest winter days. The Sulwhasoo Snow Flower Heritage Set ($150) features two exclusive products that have, until now, only been sold in the renowned Sulwhasoo flagship store in Seoul, South Korea.

Whether its for a bedroom at home or the living room of a ski house, a framed print from the New Yorker magazine’s archive of witty cartoons could be a fun gift for someone who loves snow.

Here are just a few examples of some with a snow or snowman theme – there are hundreds more.

Marimekko prints are iconic, and we love this rectangular plate from the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum shop ($25). The Kuusikosssa spruce tree pattern by designer Maija Louekari takes us “to a magical forest where every tree is unique and special.” The matching mug is equally adorable ($26).

What could be more of a must for a luxury winter wonderland than hot chocolate and marshmallows? As we’ve previously noted, gourmet artisanal marshmallows are a Thing now. We bet that anyone who loves winter would view luxury marshmallows and haute chocolate as perfect gifts any time of the year.If you want to be really on-the-nose, you might opt for these Williams-Sonoma mini-marshmallows in the shape of snowflakes.
