1. Europe

A hotel and wellness oasis floating in the heart of Swedish Lapland, Arctic Bath offers an experience worth travelling way out of the way for. Arctic Bath guests  are encouraged to embrace the local cold bath culture with warming and relaxing saunas.

Sälen-Trysil, known as the Scandinavian Mountains Airport, is a brand new airport in Dalarna, Sweden (close to the Norwegian border). The recently opened airport is the first in the  world to be built without an air traffic control tower. It uses a virtual control tower instead. The airport is the gateway to about 250 of Sweden and Norway’s most popular ski resorts.

Dolce by Wyndham Sitges Barcelona has been transformed after a €15 million investment and will reopen this month.

Munich-based hotel brand and pioneer of the ‘lean luxury’ philosophy, Ruby Hotels is set to launch its first UK property in London called Ruby Lucy. The 76-room hotel, inspired by the area’s bustling fairs and markets, will be located on the Southbank’s Lower Marsh. It will have a carnival theme running throughout.

Österreichische Bundesbahnen (OBB), Austria’s main rail operator, is expanding its network of overnight trains (Nightjet) to include a Brussels to Vienna overnight route that will take approximately 15 hours – Jan 20

2. United States

Designed with the intention of evoking a sense of staying in a Portuguese home, Pestana Park Avenue is opening in the heart of New York City.

Located in the Financial District of Manhattan, the new 131 room Fidi Hotel is a blend of industrial and colorful jewel box inspired design

The Urban Cowboy Lodge is a re-imagined alpine inn on the side of a mountain in the Catskill Forest Preserve. The 28-room resort (with a freestanding cabin and chalet) is a 10-minute drive to Belleayre Mountain – Jan 28

Located on the historic Whiskey Row, Hotel Distil has officially opened its doors in Louisville, Kentucky.

3. Asia

A new luxury villa called Falcon Brae has opened in the Abel Tasman region of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s located on 350 privately owned acres, and surrounded by rivers on two sides. The property includes a private forest and spectacular native bush walks, and offers complete privacy with a security gate and private helicopter access.

4. Middle East and Africa

Starting this month, the Palm Dubai Hotel & Suites will transform into Atlantis Dubai, an ultra-all-inclusive hotel.

The new Six Senses Shaharut will take up residence in the Israeli Negev Desert. Perched on a dramatic cliff with panoramic views of the desert, the hotel will offer suites and villas. The hotel, inspired by the natural landscape, will also utilize regional cacti and indigenous desert blooms. And source furnishings from local artists.

Paramount Pictures’ latest feature is a hotel that embodies the very essence of the Californian lifestyle. Located in Business Bay, the Paramount Hotel Dubai has 823 rooms and suites grouped into Scene and Stage Guest Rooms; Premiere Suites and Paramount Suites; and themed suites taking inspiration from the studio’s movies.

5. Latin America and Caribbean

Located in the British Virgin Islands, Rosewood Little Dix Bay has been re-imagined for today’s ultra-luxury traveler, following a four-year closure. The relaunch features 80 new guestrooms, suites and villas. This includes Tree House Suites and Pool Suites.The half-mile crescent bay beach is considered to be one of the finest in the world.
