Upon further reflection, though, we think there’s more to February than red. Snow, for one thing. So winter white feels important to have in the mix. Slate grey is part of the reality of February for any of us living in the Northern Hemisphere: cloudy skies, slushy sidewalks. You know what we mean.

Even more than those, though, we have a great deal of conviction around the idea of pink in February. In addition to Valentine’s Day cards and candies, you’ll find pink in the wild during the month if you look for it. It’s there in the dawn sky. And at early dusk. And almost always in the new spring fashion collections.

So why not make your style direction this month a mash-up of all of these elements? Here are 5 ways to face February fearlessly. And with a light spirit. Whether its for work, daytime adventures, chilling on the weekend, date night or a quick vacation over a long weekend, if you get stuck and need inspiration, just go with one of these ideas.

And don’t despair. There’s plenty of fun to be had this month – especially if you dress for it.

1. what to wear in February 2020: Wine and roses

One of our favorite color combinations of all time is pink and red. Any shade of pink. And any shade of red. But right now, especially deep Cabernet reds that are almost purple. And pinks that are a nod to the fragrant roses of June.

If you’re up for days of wine and roses, here are some gorgeous pieces to layer into your existing wardrobe.

for the office and daytime adventures

For starters, consider this graceful Stella McCartney ballet-pink dress ($1,330); an elegant Victoria Beckham midi dress($1,441); or this sparkly Rhode pleated lamé-satin midi-skirt ($465). We are huge fans of the brand, so we’re taking note of Roksanda’s dreamy midi dress with its curved pink and dark red panels ($1,525).

For off-duty or daytime adventures, we like these pale pink Altuzarra wool-blend trousers ($695), maybe with a chunky fuschia mohair sweater from JoosTricot ($930).  Or this neon-pink La Veste Qui Vole twill blazer from Jacquemus ($1,063).

Cool girls will probably prefer Isabel Marant Étoile’s pink intarsia-striped Georgie sweater ($515) and the brand’s burgundy leather shorts ($840).

We’re highly unlikely to be able to actually afford it, but in our dreams, we’re tossing on The Row’s dusty-pink belted cashmere coat ($11,900) as we head out the door.

perfect for either ski or sand vacations

Stylish types hitting the slopes in February might love the new release of Moncler Genius’s latest collaboration. The 1 Moncler Pierpaolo Piccioli puffer jacket ($2,800) is unmistakably chic.

Team Sand, we haven’t forgotten you. Love this swimsuit from Leslie Amon ($180), especially paired with an embroidered sarong from Kilometre Paris ($101).

luxury accessories

However you decide to rock red and pink, you can easily accessorize with white ankle boots, chic white sandals ($1,295) or a bag like Staud’s ivory-white Ronnie knotted handbag ($325).

Or keep the Cabernet color story going with this deep red Ratio et Motus top-handle bag ($995). What winter blues?

2. what to wear in February 2020: Love, love, love

Hearts, lips, and declarations of love are all over the luxury designer collections right now. If you don’t wear your heart on your sleeve in February, when will you? Here’s how to do it without sacrificing chic.

Rebecca Vallance’s ‘Hotel Beau’ dress ($560) is inspired by artist Jim Dine’s ‘Twin Hearts’ sculpture. Or you could pull back slightly and just go with this Brock Collection heart-embroidered blouse ($2,410).

For off duty, we love the attitude of this Bella Freud “Love Hurts” sweater ($565). And the sweetness of the brand’s “Close to My Heart” version. And this Comme de Garcons Play heart logo cardigan ($391).

Prada’s all in on this idea, with these cropped jeans with a vibrant heart print ($1,030) and a sweater covered in red hearts ($782). As is Red Valentino, with this knitted heart cardigan that comes in both white and black ($690). And a jumper proclaiming “I’ve got a crush on you.” ($282)

accessories

There’s never a shortage – especially this time of year – of accessories with hearts, lips and the word “love.” For example, you can find heart-shaped sunglasses at Gucci ($545), Balenciaga ($349) and Saint Laurent ($420). Miu Miu’s black earphones case just happens to perfect for a Valentine’s Day gift ($228).

Each year, LV creates a limited-edition Valentine’s Day gift offering. This year, it’s the Louis Vuitton Love Locks Twist PM bag ($3,700). There’s also a special heart-printed scarf from Louis Vuitton, the a la Folie ($370). To help keep it all grounded, the Dolce & Gabanna Devotion bag comes in a black heart shape this season.

Other options? Prada satin wedge sandals ($1,045); a heart necklace from Sydney Evan ($410); Alessandra Rich heart-shaped earrings ($415); and Roger Vivier sneakers ($1,050). Plus choose from the plethora of Comme de Garcon Play heart-embellished apparel and footwear – including the iconic Off-White Converse Edition Half Heart Chuck 70 low-t0p sneaker in black or white ($135).
