As we reported in April, scores of fashion brands volunteered their workshops and their teams to produce masks for vulnerable populations and medical first-responders in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Then, they started to design masks for the rest of us to protect ourselves and others on trips to the grocery store and for the occasional walktail. Still, I did not realize (or want to believe) that the face mask might be here to stay until the year two thousand and forever.
My humble black cotton mask was just fine. Until it started to get raggedy from overuse. Much like lip balms and hand sanitizer, in this new normal, it makes sense to have a few face masks in your collection: one in your tote bag, one for the car, at least one at your house – just in case.
