In 2021, we believe that travel will make a comeback. It may look a little different, but it is coming. “For the first time in a long time, I’m feeling optimistic about travel again,” says Jan L. Jones, a professor of hospitality and tourism at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.

The pent-up demand and growing wanderlust is unprecedented. Nearly 100 percent of US and Canadian travelers are eager to travel again, with 70 percent stating that they plan to take a vacation in 2021, according to a Travel Leaders Group survey of almost 3,000 frequent travelers.

Weddings just took on a whole new level with private aviation

And along with travel, there will be weddings. Yes, weddings will look different too but that’s not always the worst thing.  Both of these industries faced devastating losses because of the pandemic. Zoom weddings became the norm with only tiny guest lists (or none at all) or weddings were just postponed inevitably.

In this new world, weddings at 30,000 feet may be the ultimate luxury

But perhaps one of the best thinking outside-the-box scenarios was done by Air Charter Service with their Ultimate Wedding in the Sky” package. It allows a happy couple to say “I do” at 40,000 feet (you may not be able to Zoom it, but you will certainly remember it) in front of a small group of friends and family or just with each other and the flight crew. Social distancing rules will of course be followed.

Packages range in price from $18,000 to $28,000 (depending on the plane size) and include chauffeured transport to and from the plane, champagne, canapes and personalized wedding favors for the party, flower arrangements, an in-flight playlist and even a choice of route

Andy Christie, Air Charter Service’s group private jet director, said in a company statement, “Our ‘Weddings in the Sky’ experiences include all food and beverages and can be tailor-made to suit couples’ needs, whether they want to celebrate with close family and friends or elope, just the two of them. The flight route can be pre-arranged, so the aircraft can fly over areas of significance to those who are celebrating their marriage.”
