After the year we’ve all had, it’s no surprise that many of us are eagerly awaiting the magic hour when we get to wave goodbye to 2022. And as with most things, we’re determined to do this in style. So, what are the best luxury bottles of champagne (and non-alcoholic beverages) for New Years Eve? Here’s our round-up of the best luxury champagne brands and bottles to pop on New Year’s Eve this year to greet 2023.

What are the best expensive luxury champagne bottles to ring in New Year’s 2023

2023 is upon us and ever the eternal optimists, we are hopeful for a happy and healthy new year ahead. To set the tone, a flute of bubbly champagne at the stroke of midnight — even if we’re just in our pjs in the den this year — feels like a comforting and celebratory way to start things off right.

We tapped Alexis Percival, our friend and Managing Partner at acclaimed Lower East Side wine bars, Kindred and Ruffian, to help us select some noteworthy champagnes to ring in the new year. In 2021, she was named Sommelier of the Year by VinePair so we totally trust her recommendations. She has a passion for natural wines, which is reflected in this list of must-try champagnes worthy of a New Year celebration.

1. Lelarge-Pugeot

Since 1799, the Lelarge family has been committed to the terroir of Champagne. Over the last 20 years, they’ve moved towards organic and biodynamic farming. This bottle of Les Charmes has “depth and nuance”, but still maintains “levity and freshness” with notes of green fruits, citrus and soft yeast.

This trailblazing Champagne house was one of the pioneers of biodynamics in Champagne. The entire vineyard is certified as organic and biodynamic. The Brut Réserve is notable for delivering the depth and fruitiness of a Champagne. It is made from 80% black grapes with underlying flavors of brioche and almond from nearly three years aging on its lees.

4. Divella Gussago

Alessandra Divella is a female winemaker in the Franciacorta region of Lombardy — the “Italian answer to grower Champagne.” Her vines have been organic from the start and grapes are always hand-harvested and treated gently. This zero dosage champagne-method bottle of sparkling wine is notable for its bracing acidity, minerality, and incredible texture from compact bubbles.

5. Champ Divin

We close this list of the best bottles to try for New Year’s this year with one from a family business. Husband and wife team Fabrice and Valerie Closset-Gaziaux have educational backgrounds in agronomy and earth sciences. They have spent extensive time developing sustainable farming practices in Africa. When the opportunity presented itself to acquire 5 hectares of Jura vineyards in 2008, they immediately converted to organic and biodynamic. Champ Divin Crémant Zero is a blend 80% Chardonnay and 20% Savagnin with lush flavors of yellow plum, Meyer lemon and bruised apple.

For those who don’t drink but still want to join the festive mood, non-alcoholic drinks have come a long way. Here are three elevated and delicious options that prove you can have just as much fun without alcohol.

5. Noughty Sparkling Chardonnay

Noughty is an alcohol-free and low sugar sparkling sourced from 100% Organic Chardonnay grapes from Spain. As a B Corp-certified company, sustainability is emphasized from the moment the grapes leave the vineyards — making sure every step is as environmentally conscious as possible. But it’s the taste that makes this bottle a cult-favorite. Reviewers love its crisp and dry palate that is not too sweet and tastes just like the real thing.

BUY NOW: $25.99.

6. Zero Zero Deluxe

This non-alcoholic sparkling white wine with “assertive bubbles” is produced in Spain and has been lauded for its striking similarity to champagne or cava. Clean and bright and made from chardonnay grapes, it wins extra points for not being too sweet like a cloying juice. All in all, a sophisticated option for the designated drivers in your party.

BUY NOW: $27.00.

7. Perle Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rose Wine

We found this bottle’s delicate pink color with intense shine irresistible. And with an aroma of rose petals, its the fresh and festive alternative to champagne with a beautifully balanced flavor.
