The best rosé brands that will get you ready for the Summer of Barbie

If Barbie was to drink alcohol—not sure she has time in between activities but there has to be winery Barbie right?—it would have to be Rosé! It’s pink, it’s pretty and most importantly, it’s pink! And though National Rosé  Day is June 10th you have all summer to get your Barbie Rosé on (the movie comes out July 21st.) If you are looking for some fun brands that not only make delicious Rosés but keep them in the coolest of cans and bottles, perfect for a Barbie-themed summer soiree, we’ve got you. Barbie wouldn’t let a friend down and neither would we!

1. Avaline Rosé Cans

Keep it clean and healthy with Avaline Rosé! The vegan-friendly wine by Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power, offers a light and fresh mouthfeel with flavors of melon and zest to bring the wine’s light pink hues to life. Plus it comes in fun cans! Each can is roughly a glass and a half, and, as with all Avaline wines, made with organic grapes and zero sugar per glass.

2. Rosa Regale Sparkling Rosé 2022 (Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG)

If you like your rosé a bit sweeter (maybe you are more of a Skipper than Barbie) then try Rosa Regale Sparkling Rosé. Made from the Brachetto grape in Piedmont, northern Italy, Rosa Regale has a soft pink color, with hints of grapefruit and orange blossom on the nose with well-balanced sweetness, fresh acidity, and melon notes on the palate. Rosa Regale’s complex finish makes it a perfect pairing for pastries and cheeses & charcuterie.

3. Donnafugata Rosa Dolce & Gabbana

That’s right. The best designers in the world have their own rosé (and, yes, Barbie definitely wears D&G.) Launched in 2019 it is called Rosa, and is made with Sicilian grape varietals, Nerello Mascalese and Nocera (Domenico Dolce is from Sicily) in a collaboration with winery Donnafugata.

As you would expect, the packaging is absolutely exquisite paying homage to the beautiful carretto, the traditional horse-drawn cart used in the region, which were composed of the richest colors in a beautiful floral motif intertwined with a pink and white checkerboard pattern and gold. Even Barbie will have to Instagram this.

4. Sonoma-Cutrer Rosé of Pinot Noir 2022 (SRP $25)

Barbie would love this female-led winemaking team producing wines out of the Russian River Valley region of Sonoma County, California. This wine reveals a beautiful, light salmon color that catches the light in the glass and opens up to aromas of tangerine, wild strawberry, raspberry, a light touch of watermelon and perfumed rose petals.

A few more notable roses include:

  1. Whispering Angel: Produced in the Côtes de Provence region of France,
  2. Miraval: Miraval is a joint venture between the Perrin family and Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (and is part of their nasty divorce battle).
  3. Domaines Ott: Domaines Ott is a prestigious winery in Provence, France, known for its exceptional rosé wines.
  4. Château d’Esclans: This renowned winery in Provence produces a range of exquisite rosé wines, including Whispering Angel, Rock Angel, and Garrus. Their rosés are known for their complexity, depth, and aging potential.

If you are looking for ways to celebrate National Rosé Day besides watching Barbie here are a few ideas:

Host a Rosé Tasting: Gather a group of friends or family members and host a rosé tasting party.

Make a fun Rosé cocktail: Create a classic Rosé Spritzer by combining rosé with soda water and a splash of citrus juice.

Require everyone to wear pink: It celebrates both Barbie and Rosé!

Support Local Wineries: Take a day trip to your local winery! Many wineries offer tastings and special events on National Rosé Day.
