Hey all you cool cats and kittens! Tiger King may have ended its run, but the party is still alive with the best animal prints. Have a look at how you can rock the wild animal look in chic style right now. Pay homage to the worldwide Tiger King fan base in these stunning luxury fashion pieces in animal prints – including leopard, zebra, snake and sometimes all of the above, all at the same time.

Tiger King may be over, but animal prints live on

For some reason, animal prints – especially leopard prints – just never go out of style. So you can wear a favorite piece a lot, or a little, for years and years, and you’ll always be both trendy and timeless. How great is that? Almost any animal print can become the ultimate investment piece.

The three go-to animal prints are leopard, snake (or snakeskin) and zebra. And just to be clear, we’re talking prints – not skins – which are a whole ‘nother thing. No animals are harmed in any way in the making of these fabric prints.

Personally, of the Big Three, our favorite is leopard. We can’t remember anything we’ve ever bought that was a leopard print that we regret buying (and like so many, we’ve had plenty of buyer’s remorse when it comes to fashion).

The endless appeal of a leopard print seems to be based on its symbolism. It can signify a number of attributes and goals: power, playfulness, seduction, provocation, fearlessness. It’s all in the attitude of the wearer, but be warned. The great Christian Dior himself said about leopard prints: “If you are fair and sweet, don’t wear it.”

Then again, we do love a great zebra print – black and white is the perfect iconic color combination, and the undulating stripes are eye-catching and energizing. Pair with the most serious tailored look, and all of a sudden, it looks like a party might break out any minute.

When snake prints appear, they’re most likely to be rendered in muted grey or shimmering silver. Making apparel or accessories with a snakeskin print both subversive and somber – a delicious combination of mixed messages for work or for off-duty. And a way to be chic all year ’round. Just switch up your accent pieces from white to black depending on the season.

The good news? Whether you opt for just a flash of animal print, or you decide to go all-in, there’s a perfect animal print out there for you right now.

Some brands have fully embraced the idea for many seasons, consistently do animal prints in a masterful way, and seem to have these prints deep in their DNA (we’re looking at you, Saint Laurent). Others are new to the party and executing flawlessly (that would be you, Ganni).

The only style rule with animal prints is this: there is No Rule. Have fun, and go wild! You can treat any of these just like any other neutral, and pair them with anything you want – including more animal prints.
