7 websites to find the best luxury vacation rental home this summer

1. onefinestay

While many platforms seem to come and go, London-based onefinestay has been around since 2009 – enough time to iron out all the kinks and become the standard for luxury vacation rentals. Each one of the 5,000 homes on One Fine Stay has been handpicked and put through a rigorous inspection.

They’re essentially a concierge who can also help tailor your trip and they’re available 24/7 for support. Unlike some standard Airbnb rentals, you won’t be using the owner’s linens and towels. onefinestay decks out the homes with top-shelf linens, toiletries and local treats.

2. Kid and Coe

For families, Kid and Coe is our top choice for their portfolio of homes that considers the needs of children. As a parent of three young kids, I know it’s hard to relax even in the most luxurious home when the toddler can run into the pool at any minute.

The Kid and Coe team personally curate each of the 1000+ homes on their site  — they visit and confirm suitability (or not) for family travelers. Every listing is truly comprehensive, covering topics like “Why Kids Love It,” “Perks for Parents,” and “Style Notes.”

3. Plum Guide

Plum Guide has been called the Airbnb for the 1%. We all know reviews can be confusing and sometimes, downright untrustworthy. As founder, Doron Meyassed said, “There is no equivalent in the rental world of MetaCritic, like in film, or Michelin Guide for restaurants, where a comprehensive selection process curates only the best homes from all the other platforms.”

Plum Guide first uses an algorithm to select only the top reviewed rentals and then sends actual humans to inspect each property using a rigorous checklist to include details like shower pressure to the sociability of a space. Just 3% of homes in each destination win the Plum Award, the new global quality standard for vacation homes.

4. Oliver’s Travels

In business for 15-years, Oliver’s Travels has designated insiders in each of their destinations always discovering new properties and checking-in on their existing ones. They strategically select villas with the most desirable locations but the company is most known for their penchant towards the “quirky and wonderful.”

Think one-of-a-kind personal touches and unique qualities that make a vacation rental memorable and not cookie-cutter. Their free concierge service can also help shortlist the homes you might love if you get overwhelmed by browsing. It can also help to hire cars, catering and anything else you might need.

5. The Thinking Traveler

If you’re dreaming of a Mediterranean escape, The Thinking Traveler specializes in distinguished rental properties in Sicily, Puglia, Greece, Corsica, Mallorca, and minor Italian islands. The villas are offered exclusively through the company,  ensuring enduring partnerships and a personal touch.

A Villa Specialist first helps you identify the perfect destination and home for your group. From there, an Experience Specialist will assist with practical details, arranging stress-eliminating services and organizing any life-enhancing activities. During your trip, a Local Concierge (with a profound knowledge of the area you’re staying in) is at your disposal 24/7.
