What are the trends in designer handbags as we head into the fall winter season? Our correspondent Julie Chang Murphy has done the research and curated a list of the best luxury handbags of fall winter this year. She also painted the image above – the woman has mad skills!

what are the trends in designer handbags this fall winter?

The straw on our summer straw bags is starting to fray. You know, sort of like our dried-out, split-end pool hair. Our beach totes have been stretched out and stained, reminding us of all the adventures we’ve enjoyed in the hot summer sun. It’s time for a new bag. Good thing the Fall handbags have hit the stores!

This season, there are so many novel pieces to choose from. There are no longer any “It” bags; the “It” bag is simply the one that suits your style and lifestyle.

And they run the gamut. From Jacquemus’ teeny tiny handbag that’s garnered so much press from fashion blogs, to the popularity of Dior’s embroidered and generous-sized Book Tote. There’s lot of cozy and furry bags from designers like Chanel and Fendi. But also sleek and smooth exotic skin bags from Bottega Veneta and Chloe.

As for color, luxury designers are issuing their iconic handbags in almost every color of the rainbow. Gabriela Hearst’s Nina Bag consistently has a wait list. And Mansur Gavriel’s minimalist styles that are the perfect vehicles for saturated hues.

With so many choices, the discerning, modern woman might feel giddy, like a kid in a candy store. Or paralyzed by too many choices and totally stressed out.

Wherever you fall on the spectrum, take a look at our picks for the best luxury Fall Winter 2019-20 handbags for some inspiration, guidance and eye candy.

1. The Bottega Veneta Marie

Quilted leather is always synonymous with luxury. And we love Bottega Veneta’s treatment of it this season. The enlarged, chunky squares of the Marie Leather Shoulder Bag on a structured and geometric body look fresh, modern and chic. $4,850

2. The Chanel Shopper

It was hard to miss Spring’s Chanel double cross body bags. While we wouldn’t complain if anyone gifted them to us, we think this Small Shopping Bag is a lot more practical for the everyday. We especially appreciate its accessible front zippered compartment. Plus, the light grey leather with gold hardware works for all seasons, which is great when we’re talking Chanel prices. $4,400.
