The 5 hot fall fashion trends of 2022 in designer shoes, boots and sneakers

1. The Mary Jane

We begin our survey of the top fall fashion trends in 2022 that you need to know in designer shoes, sneakers and boots with a classic throwback: the Mary Jane.

This classic silhouette may often be associated with the elementary school set but they have plenty of grown-up polish. We’ve been spotting them on perennially cool fashion icons like Sarah Jessica Parker, Zoe Kravitz, and Alexa Chung and designers like The Row. And luckily, for those of use who haven’t worn heels since the pandemic, Mary Janes are known for being a comfortable shoe without sacrificing style.

Frances Valentine

2. The Western Boot

Next up on our countdown of the top fall fashion trends in 2022 that you need to know in designer shoes, sneakers and boots? The cowboy boot.

This festival footwear staple has made its way on to the fashion runways. Designers like Isabel Marant, Saint Laurent, Chloé and Nili Lotan all referenced rodeo wear in their collections. It’s a natural progression from prairiecore and cottagecore but we think it can look chic (and less horse girl) by adding a bit of boho whimsy to an outfit.

Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

With a subtle nod to cowboy boot detailing, this sleek pair wins our vote for the city girls who want a little bit of country.

Designers like Prada, Alexander McQueen, and Versace have made them a lot more glam this season with chunky platform soles and shiny embellishments. Whether you lean toward a traditional preppy look or something more fancy for your feet, there’s a loafer out there in your style.

4. The Skate Sneaker

Another Y2K style that’s cool again is the sneaker preferred by skateboarders. These low top sneakers first popularized by Van Old Skools and Airwalks that then morphed into the puffy silhouette of DC and Etnies were ubiquitous in the aughts. With laces loose, it was a unisex style that signaled you were part of the counter culture even if you didn’t actually own a skateboard. Designers from Louis Vuitton to Gucci and Loewe are all leaning into this sneaker style to refresh  your assortment.

Adidas x Gucci

The Gazelle draws inspo from the Creative Director’s memories of the ’80s and ‘90s, mixing the House’s motifs with Adidas’ historic sportswear look. The look is clean and minimal — making it an effortless choice for any casual ensemble.
