Our correspondent Meredith Lepore is casting her expert eye on the fashion and style high points from this year’s Golden Globes awards. Even though the ceremony was virtual due coronavirus, the glamour quotient remained high. Have a look at the 8 most glamorous looks in luxury fashion from the Golden Globes 2021.

What are the most glamorous looks from the Golden Globes 2021?

Though the Oscars gets all the credit, everyone knows that the real party is the Golden Globes. Cramming the beautiful stars of television, film and the universe that is Netflix into the ballroom of The Beverly Hills Hotel with bountiful booze and tiny plates is the recipe for a good time. Of course, this year’s broadcast looked a bit different with co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler carrying the show from opposite coasts and the nominees sitting in their various hotel rooms, living rooms and poolside seats (hello Bill Murray) to accept their awards (and then awkwardly be shown after losing.)

And the legendary parties that followed the Globes this year also took a break as most stars threw their own viewing parties and after parties (check out Kaley Cuoco’s hilarious post-loss photo.)

Fashion, however, was still center stage, despite the new normal of award shows during the pandemic. Yes, the stars still went all out even if they were just sitting in their living room (except for Jason Sudeikis who wore a tie-dye sweatshirt to accept his win for TV comedy series “Ted Lasso,” but if someone had to do it, we are glad it was him.)  But who needs a red carpet when you’ve got a dramatic backdrop?

What are the most glamorous looks from the Golden Globes 2021?

1. Anya Taylor-Joy

The twice nominated star took home the trophy for Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role on The Queen’s Gambit and frankly, her ensemble deserved its own award. She wore a stunning emerald Dior Haute Couture dress and more than $1 million worth of Tiffany & Co. diamonds. But she didn’t stop there. For after the broadcast she changed into a satin strapless steel blue gown custom-designed by Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri that took over 150 hours to make. Check mate.

2. Elle Fanning

Somewhat similar to Joy’s look, Elle Fanning channeled old Hollywood in her custom mint-green satin draped gown designed by Alessandro Michele for Gucci. She paired it with vintage diamond and platinum jewels by Fred Leighton (the rings and bracelets were from 1915 and the 1920s.)

4. Amanda Seyfried

The “Mank” star and nominee kept the glamour train going with her apricot custom gown by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim for Oscar de la Renta. The floral neckline though exaggerated really worked well here and seemed fitting as she attended the ceremony from Savannah, Georgia. She accessorized with diamonds by Forevermark, a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.

6. Cynthia Erivo

In one of the more futuristic looks of the night, actress and singer Cynthia Erivo stole the show in her neon-green sleeveless Valentino haute couture scuba gown, accessorized with diamond jewels by Maria Tash and Wempe Jewelers. Her stylist,  Jason Bolden said they chose the look because “With colors like that, that’s what it triggers. It triggers that emotion of happiness and joy. Right now, I feel like that’s what we need. That’s why I really wanted to lean into something that looked like that — bold and impactful. That’s exactly what it did.”

7. Kate Hudson

Though her film, “Music,” received some not-so-positive reviews, to say the least, the nominee still brought down the house in Louis Vuitton. She also sported a white Proenza Schouler dress with dramatic sleeves (a big trend of the night) before the show. She also had her whole gorgeous, famous family there to celebrate including mom Goldie Hawn.

8. Lily Collins

Not everyone is a fan of her Netflix show “Emily in Paris,” but everyone did like her dress — a Saint Laurent paisley embroidered one-shoulder gown. The actress vamped and channeled old Hollywood with her curls and bold lipstick.

Collins as well as King, Seyfried, Awkwafina and many others also clearly weighed in on the topical hair part debate dominating TikTok currently and showed that they were bold women who can rock a super dramatic side part. Take that Gen Z.
