In addition to Pride Month, June will see Bryant Park’s Picnic Performances, the kick off of the Tribeca Film Festival and the Governors Ball is at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Elsewhere in upstate New York, Saratoga will host its annual Saratoga Jazz Festival. Overseas, the Basel edition of Art Basel opens, the Superyacht Cup Palma sets sail and the opening of the Le Grand Mazarin in Paris has us dreaming of our next European vacation.

3. art basel
The Basel edition of Art Basel brings the international art world together. It features over 200 leading galleries and more than 4,000 artists from five continents – Jun 15 – 18
4. africa fashion
Boasting over 180 works, Africa Fashion at the Brooklyn Museum will feature photographs, drawings, film, music, textiles, jewelry and films of catwalks from over 40 artists and designers from 20 countries — many of them on view for the first time on these shores – Jun 23 – Oct 22
5. jacob’s pillow
Jacob’s Pillow returns for an unforgettable nine weeks of programming in the Berkshires. As well as live performances in the Ted Shawn Theatre, attendees can also expect virtual programming and many special events, such as Pillow Pride Party on July 8th. Renowned for being Europe’s longest-running regatta, the Superyacht Cup Palma will return to the Balearic waters of the Bay of Palma for four days of racing action this this month – Jun 21 – 24

Just on the heels of the Met Gala which was dedicated to iconic fashion designer Karl Largerfeld, The Karl Lagerfeld Macau Hotel opens its doors this month. Part of The Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, it’s the only hotel in the world that was completely designed by the famed designer.

23. taste of the vineyard
The Taste of the Vineyard on Martha’s Vineyard kicks off the Island’s social season. More than 30 years ago, the Taste was started by the Vineyard Trust as a fundraiser for the restoration of the Flying Horses Carousel. More potluck than posh, it was a small event in 1986, but has grown immensely in popularity and participation over the years and is now the most important annual fundraiser for the Vineyard Trust – Jun 15 – 18

Though the lazy days of summer have begun to creep in, there’s no need to turn your brain off just yet. There are major gatherings to provoke thought and conversation on the luxury calendar in June.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity focuses on the creative and marketing communications, entertainment, design and tech industries on June 19-23. The Bloomsday Festival is June 12- 18: Leopold Bloom’s fictional journey through the streets of Dublin, as imagined in James Joyce’s epic Ulysses, takes place on June 16, 1904. Joyce fans celebrate his work and life annually. And the Aspen Ideas Festival is June 24-30.

But despite all the intellectually stimulating occasions, fear not. This is still definitely a month full of opportunities for sandals, grilling outdoors, hanging out on the beach and fun in the sun.

So we also note that June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, World Ocean Day is June 8th, Father’s Day is the 18th, Juneteenth is the 19th. Finally, Summer Solstice (the first day of summer) is the 21st.
