Calling all New Yorkers, visitors, community members and allies! Our correspondent Abbie Martin Greenbaum has curated a list of 12 of the top LGBTQ+ Pride Month events and celebrations to attend in New York (NYC) this June 2022, including marches, rallies, movie viewings, and more.

what are some of the top LGBTQ+ pride month events in NYC this year?

Happy Pride month! This year marks the 53rd anniversary of the Stonewall Uprisings – demonstrations that occurred in 1969 at legendary gay club Stonewall Inn, in response to raids by police. These riots served as a momentous force in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights, and the first Pride happened one year later in commemoration.

Of course, LGBTQ rights have come a long way since 1969, but the fight is not over. This spring, dozens of states proposed “Don’t Say Gay” bills, while a record number of anti-trans bills – and most insidiously, anti-trans legislation targeting children – were passed by states across the US.
