2. whistler blackcomb, canada

One of the largest ski resorts in North America, Whistler Blackcomb opens for summer skiing shortly after the regular ski season ends. From mid-June to mid-July, two T-bars provide skiing on Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier in a public terrain park as well as in private areas reserved for summer camps.

3. tignes, france

Open from late June to early August, the Grande Motte Glacier in Tignes, France offers 20 km of varied terrain – blue, red and black runs and even some cross country skiing – accessed by chairlifts and drags.

Situated on the Mont de Lans Glacier in France, Les 2 Alpes is touted as one of the largest summer ski areas in Europe. From late May to the end of August the area is home to high-quality snow at an elevation of 11,800 feet with freestyle terrain for skiers and riders of all abilities.

5. zermatt, switzerland

Open year-round, Zermatt has a whopping 21 km of summer skiing on Theodul Glacier. In addition to being the highest and largest summer skiing operation in Europe, the freestyle Snowpark Zermatt provides one of the best views of the iconic Matterhorn.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of summer ski school options and share the slopes with international ski teams in training. Be sure to hit the trails early because Zermatt summer skiing is only available until noon. Afterwards, retreat to a stay at Mont Cervin Palace, which features an extensive wellness center. It boasts an indoor pool as well as a heated outdoor pool, where you can relax with views of the Matterhorn.

6. saas fee, switzerland

Summer skiing in Switzerland is not limited to just one option. The Allalin Glacier in Saas Fee offers summer and fall skiing from mid-July to late October and boasts more than a dozen miles of pistes and terrain parks. The 20 km ski area is well suited to intermediates and is, like many of the other summer skis spots, popular with freestylers and race teams.

Ready to head south for winter? Las Leñas is one of the highest ski resorts in Argentina and boasts 52 km of slopes suited to skiers and riders of all levels. Advanced and expert skiers come for the deep off-piste powder, but beginners and families can enjoy some fun too with an uninterrupted 1,000 meter descent along a mild slope plus a formidable ski school.

8. coronet peak, new zealand

Opening in mid June for its 75th season, Coronet Peak is just 20 minutes away from Queenstown, New Zealand and the varied terrain offers something for everyone.
