5 fashion tips for what to wear when working from home or from the office

Whether your commute involves the subway or just coming down a flight of stairs, you can find chic and adaptable work wardrobe essentials that will get the job done whether its an office day or a work-from-home Wednesday.

Fashion experts share their tips on the 5 best ways to take your trusted work-from-home (WFH) wardrobe outfits back to the office

1. best work-from-home and office hybrid fashion: Oversized blazers

The blazer is a timeless ‘I mean business’ work-wear piece. But tailored suits can often be restricting. For optimal home-office comfort, our experts suggest going for a looser fitting blazer

“Opting for a bit of an oversized fit is suitable for ‘work-attire’ while still remaining comfortable,” Eileen Nguyen, a stylist and fashion creator, tells Dandelion Chandelier. “There’s more room to move around and it makes any outfit look chic.”

And if you’re looking to bump up the comfort while you’re at home, consider a jacket that will make it easier for you to move

Samantha Brown, a wardrobe stylist, tells Dandelion Chandelier that one of this year’s new style staples is the knit blazer. “It has the work-from-home comfort we’ve become accustomed to, but with the professional function that’s needed as we re-enter the workplace.”

2. best work-from-home and office hybrid fashion: white shirt

Another known work-closet staple is the white, collared button-up. While this piece can elevate any look, such shirts often require a bit of dry-cleaning and ironing to look up to par. But when it comes to putting together the perfect remote outfit, the less hassle there is, the better.

That’s why Brown suggests machine washable blouses and button downs as a welcomed wardrobe update. “The key is to look as polished as we used to, but with much lower maintenance items,” she says.

3. best work-from-home and office hybrid fashion: Elastic-waist trousers

It’s no question that the popper office set-up is a must-have these days. But sometimes, sprawling out on the couch is the change of environment you need to get work done. For the best work-from-couch attire, consider opting for pants with stretchy waistlines

“We’re seeing trousers becoming a fashion staple this year,” says Nguyen. “And while they are great for a boss look, they are also perfect for comfortable work-attire.”

Plus, many trouser designs often have stretchy waistbands that are only seen in the back, so they’re guaranteed to be safe-for-Zoom as well.

4. best work-from-home and office hybrid fashion: Loose-fitting denim

One of the benefits of remote work is that any day can be a “casual Friday.” And this means jeans are a go, whenever you feel like it.

Loose-fit denim and slouchy trousers are big for Spring, and this trend also coincides with our affinity for comfort.” says Brown. “We’re gradually moving away from form fitting items and opting for more ease.”

5. best work-from-home and office hybrid fashion: Slip-on Sandals

Finally, think about footwear as you plan your work-from-home and office hybrid fashion. While it’s not mandatory to be dressed up from head to toe while you’re in your home office, consider stepping out of your fuzzy slippers and into something more work appropriate

According to Brown, flat, chic sandals are very much in style this season. “If we’re moving out of our house slippers, we’re craving something equally low key,” she says.
