It wasn’t always this way, though.  In the past, those finishing touches of scent were a little different.  In fact, they weren’t finishing touches at all.  During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was common for people to wear their scent in a sachet on their belt or on their necklace all day long.

Fast forward to today, and it seems that modern luxury brands like Diptyque and Kilian are looking to the past with their latest round of new products.  Items like scented sticker tattoos, bracelets, brooches and even lipsticks emit scents all day long.  And we say, “bring it on!”

As busy women who work, lead families, attend cocktail parties and do everything in between, we can’t help but love the idea of having our favorite perfume perfectly calibrated and ready to move with us throughout the day. Ensuring we feel and smell our best no matter what comes at us.

To keep you in the know, we followed the scent on this new trend to find out what luxury brands are doing in the wearable perfume game.  From simple yet elegant temporary tattoos, to chic ruby and sapphire necklaces, here are our five of our favorite finds.

1. Diptyque.

While Diptyque is widely known for its luxury candles, the brand also creates gorgeous fragrances, skincare and body products.

Their latest line, Prêts-à-Parfumer, takes a playful approach to scent and consists of three products.  The first is a satin perfume sticker ($55) (available in Shadow in the Water, Rose Water and Do Son) that is halfway between a tatoo ornament and a mobile diffuser. The wearer places it on the inside of the wrist, the nape of the neck or the curve of the shoulder.

Next is a black and white braided perfumed bracelet ($90). The user can adjust the fragrance diffusion with extra wraps around the wrist to create a soft silage of Tam Dao, Eau Rose or Do Son with the gesture of a hand.

Finally, there’s a beautiful gilded brooch ($120) in the shape of a bird. Simply slip a perfumed disc (Skin Flower, Rose Water and Do Son) into its body. And smile as its legs move back and forth.

2. Lisa Hoffman.

Jewelry designer Tom Binns has teamed up with beauty maven Lisa Hoffman (wife of Dustin Hoffman) to launch a chic line of fragrance jewelry.

Hoffman was interested in creating a fragrance that never needed to touch the skin of the wearer. Together with Binns, she has launched a line of products that do just that.  Perfect for those with sensitive skin, Lisa Hoffman Fragrance Jewelry ($230 – $900) consists of bracelets, cuffs, necklaces and earrings that each feature small charm-like chambers where you can place a few of your favorite Lisa Hoffman Fragrance Beads to softly emit scent throughout your day.

3. Amkiri.

The brand Amkiri launched what they are calling the world’s “first visual fragrance” in the form of a semi-permanent tattoo.

What is strikingly different about this product versus other tattoo options on our list is that it’s entirely customizable, as the formula is a stencil and wand in scented ink.  Wearers can choose between 95 different stencil designs in white or charcoal – or even go completely freehand – to get a unique fragrant look that lasts for up to 12 hours.

4. Kilian.

Innovative fragrance brand Kilian is rewriting the codes of traditional perfume with its Le Rouge Parfum ($55). It’s a line of scented lipsticks all in various shades of red. Rest assured, this isn’t anything like lip smackers from your youth.  Kilian has perfumed each lipstick with gourmand and floral notes, and a combination of marshmallow and orange blossom notes.

On top of that, the brand has also created a line of scented jewelry together with the celebrated Parisian jewelry designer Elie Top. This collection consists of a ring, a choker, a necklace, a bracelet and earrings ($550 – $1,050).  Neither product is meant to replace the wearer’s traditional everyday fragrance. Instead, consider it more of an experimentation in applying perfume. They encourage wears to think of them as a second (or third) layer to add to their existing fragrance routines.

5. Tattly.

Tattly Scented Tattoos are the brainchild of New York based company Tattly together with the French artist Vincent Jeannerot.  The collection consists of watercolor-style floral images of blue hydrangeas, roses, parsley and sage that will last up to four days.

Each temporary tattoo has been matched with a complimentary scent made in collaboration with fragrance company Agilex Fragrance. to include notes of pink poppies, ylang-ylang, dewy fuchsia petals and poplar wood.  And if flowers aren’t your thing, never fear because you can also get your hands on a set of mouth watering tattoos inspired by retro confectioneries like scented candy charms too.  Talk about a perfect tween gift this holiday season.
