We’re not too old to believe in magic potions. Like music, fragrances appeal to our subconscious mind and trigger our emotions without our conscious knowledge that it’s even happening.

Sensuous Fall fragrances and perfumes

The best, most sensual and romantic luxury designer perfumes and fragrances to buy this Fall 2022, including Hermes, Chanel and Loewe.

The notes are ephemeral, but their effects are lasting. A whiff of a forgotten soap can transport us back to our childhood bathroom, pink tiles and all. The smell of an ex’s cologne while shopping on a Saturday afternoon can break our hearts all over again.

When you’re looking to immerse yourself in a mood, cement some new experiences, and produce some positive associations, a scent can be a powerful tool.

2. guerlain cherry oud.

Cherry Oud is a new fragrance for women and men launched in 2022 under L’art et La Matière collection. A duo of roses is at this fragrance’s heart, composed of honey-toned Turkish rose absolute and Bulgarian rose essence. The base notes of cherry accord, leather, and oud wood call to mind a fleeting sweetness with a provocative quality – inspired by the bright, glossy red that Jeff Koons uses to coat his creations. Finally, cinnamon and cardamom spices enhance the fruity intensity of the cherry accord while giving it a mysterious complexity.

The result is a love letter to Autumn – woodsy, sensual, and refined. The gender-fluid scent was first created by Gabrielle Chanel, echoing her childhood memories spent amongst centuries-old volcanoes in Auvergne.

5. penhaligon highgrove bouquet.

Created with the newly crowned King Charles III, Highgrove Bouquet is a late summer fragrance that has continued relevance in the fall months. It’s the smell of earthly sunshine derived from the weeping silver lime tree which grows in abundance at Highgrove House (his family home when he was the Prince of Wales). Notes of tuberose and mimosa add a powdery effect which some fans have liked to “yellow velvet” while lavender and geranium add a pleasing crispness. Ten percent of the proceeds help fund The Prince’s Foundation, which offers training and education programs that champion sustainability and help preserve heritage skills that might otherwise be lost.
