2. Hybrid Workouts

Hybrid workouts include fitness training for two different sports or activities at the same time while specifically focusing on endurance as well as strength training. Both activities or sports are valued and treated equally while mainly focusing on improving the performance of both skills.  For instance, in one session, combining resistance and cardio during one workout session.

3. Functional Fitness

Functional fitness is one of the newest trends and it involves staying active and adding everyday movement into your normal activities. Overall, you are using practical, all-around movements while navigating the physical world and building upon flexibility and balance.  If we continue to do these everyday movements every day like bending, walking, climbing, and even pushing a carriage, we are slowly introducing ourselves to functional fitness.

4. HIIT/Circuit Training

One of the top trends from the last few years is still going strong this year: HIIT Training Workouts/Circuit Training. These exercises consist of short bursts of intense exercise followed by a period of rest or low-intensity workouts.  Such exercises include repetitions of high knees, jump squats, burpees, and mountain climbers. These exercises can be done throughout the day at home at your convenience or even at your local gym.

5. Rest and Recovery

Injuries are very common with activities and workouts, so that is why rest and recovery are so important.  Rest and recovery is all about listening to your body and the importance of making time to rest and recover not only physically, but mentally as well.

Many experts say that you should rest every three to five days with mindfulness. Anything from soaking in a hot tub to meditation to walking outside. To recover during this time, you should be eating nutritious meals, drinking plenty of water, and getting a sufficient amount of sleep.

6. Holistic Health/Wellness

Over the last few years, holistic medicine, health, and wellness have become popular trends and now with resorts opening up wellness centers around the world, it is one of the top trends for 2024.  Holistic wellness focuses on the person as a whole; bringing together the person’s mind, body, spirit, and environment into balance. Within these programs, you work on your physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and mental health through a variety of activities such as yoga, mindfulness, meditation, as well as outdoor activities to become one with nature. Think of it as body and mind training.
