Berry picking fun for the whole family, and it will help you to make a memory that you can treasure through the rest of the year. And as an added bonus, any fruit you gather will fold into a yummy summer dessert!

If you’re looking to pick some berries in the upcoming weeks, here are twelve spots we recommend.

The 12 best places for a Berry Picking adventure this season

1. New Jersey: Alstede Farms

Alstede Farms of Chester, New Jersey, has greeted summer with a full schedule, and it includes strawberries (happening now!), blueberries, and blackberries, as well as other fruits and vegetables. But the fun doesn’t have to end there. After you pick your berries, you can pay a visit to the site’s “animal friends” – goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, and more! – and then take a break with some homemade ice cream or lunch from the Hen House concession stand.

They offer fishing, indoor mini golf, barnyard animals (there’s even a peacock!), face painting, and more, as well as an impressive calendar of events.  You will not want to miss the annual Blueberry Festival on July 10th. A few miles from Rhode Island, in Seekonk, Massachusetts, you will find the very special Four Town Farm. The farm is currently in its fifth generation, thrilled to provide the community with their delicious pick-your-own produce throughout the summer and fall. This season you can find strawberries, peaches, and watermelons, as well as a feast of summer veggies. And you’re definitely going to want to pick up some treats from the farm stand before you head home, as well as flowers from their summer garden.

4. Oklahoma: Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm

Owasso does berry picking just as well as they do Christmas Trees – and by that we mean, very well. Stop by Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday to pick up some blackberries and blueberries – and trust us, these are berries that will change your life. Owasso has been perfecting their produce for more than a decade, and you can taste the results in every piece of fruit you pick. All you need to do is show up, and they will give you everything you need for an unforgettable afternoon.

5. Vermont: Wellwood Orchards

As Wellwood says: the difference in their fruit is in its flavor. And you can see for yourself – stop by this month to pick some of their strawberries and cherries, and then plan a return later in the season for a sample of their blueberries, raspberries, peaches, plums, and nectarines. You will also absolutely not want to miss baby goat yoga – every Saturday through the end of August.

11. Maine: Treworgy Family Orchards

The forecast says 100% chance of strawberries. At least that’s what Treworgy tells us, and we’re hoping they’re right. This family run-orchard is all about forging connections through the communal act of fruit-picking. We love it. It’s not about the berries – although they are delectable – it’s about the memories. And when your memories include a petting zoo, and the longest-running corn maze in all of Maine – you know they’re going to be good ones.
